Free interactive workshops will be held  in the western suburbs of Adelaide from June 1, 2011.  COTA (Council On The Ageing) Seniors Voice provides interactive peer education sessions to help seniors living with chronic  illnesses to think about and write their wishes for care, if at some time in the future,  they were unable to speak for themselves. Advance care plans document your future health and lifestyle wishes, so that family and other important person/s know what you want. The pilot program is based in the western suburbs of Adelaide. ALF at 2011 Australian Fitness and Health Expo

In April, the Australian Lung Foundation exhibited at the 2011 Australian Health and Fitness Expo in Sydney. The expo is run in conjunction with FILEX which is the Fitness Industry’s annual convention.  The expo is attended by fitness instructors from across the county and some international instructors and presenters (including Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists).  It is also open to the general public on the weekend.  We were fortunate enough to have Corinne French, a Pulmonary Rehabilitation physiotherapist from the Gold Coast’s Helensvale Community Health, help out on our stand this year (pictured).  We use the expo as a way of finding Lungs in Action instructors as well as being available as a resource for the public. 15,500 fitness professionals attended the expo in 2010 over the five day course which is great exposure for the Australian Lung Foundation.
