Lung Foundation Australia recognises the important role of pharmacy in the community and across the continuum of care. Work in this area includes promoting lung health, COPD screening and risk assessment, and disease management.

To support this role Lung Foundation Australia has developed a range of resources to support pharmacists in their work with community and patients with lung disease.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Lung Foundation Australia has produced a range of resources to support existing programs and to facilitate the establishment of further pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

COPD Screening Devices in the Community

Lung Foundation Australia supports targeted COPD case-finding in the community using COPD Screening devices.

The main aim of targeted COPD case-finding with a COPD screening device is to identify those at risk of COPD and avoid unnecessary spirometry in those with normal lung function.

Lungs in Action

Lungs in Action is a safe, enjoyable, low cost exercise maintenance program in the community for people who have completed a pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Palliative Care

Lung Foundation Australia recognises Palliative and Supportive Care as a fundamental stage of care in living with Chronic Lung Diseases. Palliative and Supportive Care allows people with Lung Diseases to enhance their quality of life in a way that is meaningful to them. It also supports families and carers in their adjustments to some of the lifestyle changes they may have to face.
