Join The Australian Lung Foundation this November to raise awareness and support for those touched by lung cancer. The Lung Foundation is encouraging Australians to get involved and "Shine a Light on Lung Cancer". Participants can either join or host a vigil as an effective way to raise awareness and get the community involved in this campaign. Let's extinguish the stigma around lung cancer – Lung cancer doesn't discriminate – it can happen to anyone! |
The Australian Lung Foundation will host major community events in November and invite you to come along:
- Sydney CBD Saturday 12th Nov
- Perth Saturday 12th Nov
- Canberra Tuesday 22nd Nov

World COPD Day
This national awareness raising event is promoted annually on November 16. World COPD Day is a community based campaign where patients, carers, allied health professionals, pulmonary rehabilitation coordinators and respiratory support group participants all join together to engage with members of the public to raise the profile of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) around the country.
The Australian Lung Foundation offers support and event resources to all groups to assist in their aim to alert people to the prevalence, symptoms and treatment for this disease.
The focus during 2011 will be lung function screening so more people consider their respiratory health a priority and in doing so, take the necessary steps to seek further advice from their general practitioner if necessary.
FREE lung function screening events will be coordinated on November 16 in
- Wynyard Park, Sydney
- Federation Square, Melbourne.
There will also be 60 local World COPD Events. To find an event in your area, please click here http://www.lungfoundation.com.au/get-involved/events/about-world-copd-day/world-copd-day-2011-event-listing
