Shine a Light on Lung Cancer

6 Shine a light vigils held during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in 2012

Six Shine a Light on Lung Cancer awareness events were held around Australia during Lung Cancer Awareness Month last November in Brisbane, Sydney, Albury/Wodonga, Canberra, Hobart and Perth.

Approximately 2000 of our patients, their families and supporters attended these events to help raise awareness about the inequalities in lung cancer research and support. We invite you to view our 2012 Shine a Light photo gallery below.

Several  Lung Foundation Australia  firsts  were achieved during Lung Cancer Awareness Month:

LFA launched an on-going lung cancer TV Ad and interactive campaign called “End the Unspoken” which aims to highlight the extent of lung cancer in Australia.

Please get behind this campaign and click YES to support our petition to ask the government for further lung cancer funding.  Use the SHARE button on the campaign to send it out through your community of family, friends and contacts via email, Facebook and/or Twitter and help us to raise awareness about Australia’s biggest cancer killer.  Simply go to www.endtheunspoken.com to have your say.

LFA also hosted its  first ever regional Shine a Light vigil in Albury/Wodonga and screened a wonderful Aboriginal patient survivor story, ”Merle’s Story” to more than 300 locals just prior to the outdoor screening of the Aussie movie hit, “The Sapphires”.  Click to view Merle’s story

Big things are ahead for our 2013 Shine a light on lung cancer awareness activities …

Shine a Light on Lung Cancer is made possible through a partnership with the Lung Cancer Alliance www.lungcanceralliance.org/shinealightonlungcancer/, a US based non-profit organisation dedicated solely to patient support and advocacy for people living with lung cancer and those at risk for the disease.

Lung Foundation Australia will be the exclusive host and the first country outside the US to host the Shine a Light on Lung Cancer campaign.
